Most of us have been taught to attempt to find safety in aspects of life that appear outside of us - certain people, amounts of money, food and shelter. There can even be a weird sort of feeling of safety in our discomfort, even though we don’t like it, it is familiar. The truth is that we cannot control aspect of life outside of ourselves. We actually cannot control any part of life including ourselves.. So what to do? How can we feel safe in the truth of not being in control in life? Firstly by shifting from attempting to ‘get control’ to practicing ‘choice in response’ - we always get to choose how we respond to life in each moment. As we get more comfortable with this shift, and we show ourselves that we do have choice, life becomes one of on-going empowerment as we deepen into trusting ourselves more and more deeply. As a side effect, this shift also supports you to deepen into Presence - to awaken this even more strongly, which in turn, results in feeling more and more safe.
