Fear is a natural survival mechanism. Essentially, the intention of fear is to protect this body, and sometimes this body does need protection. In this life we can’t be naive or passive when there are situations where we need to take action to protect ourselves. However, more often than not, fear was originally founded in frightening past circumstances, but now these past memories cloud your perception of present circumstances. It is so natural to want to protect yourself from a potential threat. And when you really acknowledge that being protective is not something wrong with you, but simply an old and innocent program, it brings great compassion for yourself as a human. It is not that there is something wrong with you that you need to fix. Instead see the whole picture with your eyes open
