Andrew Cohen will be returning to Paris to lead a special course over three evenings at Forum 104.
Taken together, these three intensive teaching events will provide a strong and inspiring foundation for anyone seriously interested in discovering what Enlightenment is all about. For those unable to attend all three evenings, the individual events are designed to be complete teachings in themselves.
Each evening will begin with an introduction to meditation and the meaning of non-duality. After a short break, there will be an in-depth talk on the essential principles of spiritual life and practice. We will also explore how human development directly relates to the evolution of our shared culture.
Evening One – Evolutionary Enlightenment
Evening one will offer a grounding in some of the fundamental principles and distinctions of the new evolutionary spirituality. Andrew will explain how we can look at the human experience through a very different lens; the lens of a consciousness that has been awakened to the compelling thrill of evolution.
Through this lens, we discover a vast cosmic process in which we potentially play a very significant role. We discover and awaken to a much deeper self-sense that Andrew calls the Evolutionary Impulse.
This is the experience of a cosmic and impersonal love; the very energy and intelligence that exploded into being and created the universe itself. In this, there is also the discovery of an ecstatic urgency at the level of one’s soul.
This ecstatic urgency inspires us to want to make this world a better place, simply because we are here.
Evening Two – The Fundamental Principles of Spiritual Practice
On evening two, Andrew will take us through some of the founding principles of transformative spiritual practice. He has distilled these perennial principles into what he calls the Five Tenets.
The most challenging aspect of spiritual transformation is not the initial awakening experience, but the ability to sustain the awakened state as we journey through the unpredictable changes and fluctuations of our daily lives.
The understanding and practice of the Five Tenets helps strengthen and stabilise our awakening to spirit in an extraordinary way. It helps us in a deeply practical sense to develop what Andrew calls Spiritual self-confidence.
Spiritual self-confidence liberates us from an oppressive sense of feeling overwhelmed by the complexity of life, and instead gives us the courage to embrace it wholeheartedly and without fear.
Evening Three – Consciousness and Culture
Evening three will examine the relationship between the evolution of consciousness and the evolution of culture. We will learn the many different ways in which our cultural backgrounds unknowingly frame the way we see, perceive and understand our experience. Exploring the different ways culture conditions our perception helps us to identify where our values truly come from.
Specifically we will look at how the values of traditional, modern and postmodern culture have deeply informed and conditioned our experience of reality in ways that we may not be aware of. We will come to see how illuminating these unseen processes dramatically liberates our awareness, and points to an exciting future that is no longer confined by these unconscious structures.
Through this enquiry we will see not only where we have come from, but also where we are going, directly intuiting the extraordinary promise that exists in a future that has yet to be created.
