Events with Joan invite an open and direct exploration of the living reality Here / Now. Joan points to the unbroken wholeness or boundless awareness that is our True Nature, and to the mirage-like nature of the separate self. She emphasizes that liberation can only happen Now, and only in the immediacy of presence, beyond concepts and beliefs. Gatherings typically include silence, a talk and an opportunity for questions and dialog. Joan’s bare-bones approach is simple, direct and down-to-earth.

Joan Tollifson is the author of Nothing to Grasp; Painting the Sidewalk with Water: Talks and Dialogs about Nonduality; Awake in the Heartland: The Ecstasy of What Is; and Bare-Bones Meditation: Waking Up from the Story of My Life, and she is currently at work on a book about aging and dying. Joan has roots in both Buddhism and Advaita but belongs to no formal tradition. She has been holding meetings since the 1990’s.
